ABOUT ME
I was 11 years old when I realized how much I love making words appear on a page. Later, I found that I liked playing with the placement and diction of words to create new meanings. All this was to communicate more effectively.
Yo soy Ariella. My closest call me Ari. I am a Mexican-American poet with indigenous Peruvian roots living in the Bay Area.
I am a recent fellow of The Writer’s Grotto’s Rooted & Written, but I found my voice as a poet at CCSF's “Poetry for the People” course. I write poetry exploring my culture, insecurities and self-worth, relationships, and dual language. Aside from writing, I love reading, painting, playing board games, and drinking coffee.
I am inspired by Ada Limón, Sandra Cisneros, Ama Codjoe, Sylvia Path and Halsey. Additionally, I often draw inspiration from nature and collaboration with other writers. I'm a writer with a passion for empowering others and finding value in showcasing the true you in all aspects of your life.
